1) I play sax in a horn band and most times we just listen to a recording and pick out our parts or write our own. But it's a whole lot easier if charts are available. I'm curious, you mentioned that you don't use charts and that you do fill-in work ,do you guys know every song out there such that you can fill in for a gig without charts. I'm not trying to be facetious, just curious.



2) Looks like the respondents to the original post (looking to form horn band) have a good start. I know the drummer (Tom Barley) that responded. In my opinion, he's one of the best funk/fatback drummers around.
