Rapunzel is an original musical based on the classic fairy tale with a few twists. The story begins when a very pregnant Bumptious Bungle is craving lilies and sends her husband Blunder to fetch them from the neighbor’s garden. The neighbor is a n evil witch and the garden contains not only the lilies that Bumptious craves but also flowers which are really children who have been enchanted by the witch. When the witch catches Blunder, she makes a deal with him that she will not enchant him as long as he and his wife give their baby to her as soon as she is born. Rapunzel, of course, is the baby and she is eventually locked away in a tower to keep her away from other children. The witch also imprisons three girls to keep her company. April, May and June are not only her friends but her back-up singers as well. Added to the cast of characters are a Prince (teen heartthrob type with a 50s rock inspired solo), his comic sidekick, a good witch who makes everything right in the end, a narrator to move the story along as well as various animals, a gardener who looks after the enchanted flowers, young Rapunzel and Tommy, a young boy from the village. There are parts for actors of all ages and skill levels.

All roles are open.

Adults and children should prepare a song of their choice and bring either sheet music or music track. Auditioners will also be asked to read from the script.
