Tazzman: The Greene Turtle in Aberdeen is a new venue, and hasn't been having bands for very long. Their staff is awesome, and treats their bands extremely well. "Out of the bands listed on Starleigh's websites, how many of them actually draw a good crowd EVERYWHERE they go?" You have a point there. However, when a band plays a venue that they do not frequent, it takes awhile to establish themselves in the area. It helps immeasurably that the band do their own advertisement as well. Not to mention, that particular venue is not exclusively a "Starleigh" room. There ARE a lot of good local bands in that area, and they draw well in that bar, and very few, if any, are Starleigh bands. But when you take a band that packs any Pasadena area bar, and put them in an area that they have played very few times... especially when Alton Street (local Aberdeen band) is in the area on the same night... well... Starleigh (under old management) could care less about how well a band does in a venue. They wanted the paycheck, which is most likely why bands, such as the one you mentioned that drew 20 people at the Greene Turtle (slight exaggeration maybe?) have declined representation by them. Starleigh didn't put that band in that room, or any other for quite some time. A good band speaks for itself, and if you keep playing the rooms, the crowd will come.
