Singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, Rich Mascari, picked up his first guitar around the age of 6 and the rest is history….

Rich, a native of Bel Air, MD, has been a force in the Maryland music scene for many years. He can currently be seen playing almost any night of the week at venues all over Maryland and surrounding areas.  His impressive piano playing is outshined only by his mastery of the guitar and impeccable vocals.  Other instruments in his bag of tricks include bass, drums, percussion, harmonica, ukulele, and mandolin.  He has developed a unique style which draws on his experience in many different music styles and genres. Rich’s original music is equally funky and folky with a rock twist and a lyrical style that grabs at the heart and soul.

Rich began writing songs when he was in second grade and started playing professionally by the time he was a young teen.  What started in a church folk group, led him to a career in music that has spanned four decades.  After playing in several bands and solo all over Maryland, he attended Berklee School of Music in Boston where he recorded his first record.  It wasn’t long before a friend called from Los Angeles to tell him that Paul Rothchild, Legendary Doors producer, had shown an interest in him.  In LA, Paul and Dan Rothchild helped Rich reach a new level of awareness with his music.  He did sessions with Bruce Botnick and Eddie Cramer. His voice was heard on a national Kmart ad campaign and his song “Lonely World” was featured in the Surfing Sports Spectacular.

Life eventually brought Rich back to the East Coast.  He was soon playing with Great Train Robbery, a band that has shared the stage with The Allman Brothers, 38 Special, BTO, Kansas, The Guess Who, Molly Hatchet, Foghat, Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels Band, Blue Oyster Cult, Blackfoot,  and Lynyrd Skynyrd.  He left GTR in 1999 to pursue his own projects. His band Mascaraid has left a trail of gigs up and down the East Coast, including the new millennium party at Sloppy Joe’s in Key West and the rooftop of the E-Commerce Building.

Currently, Rich performs both solo and with his band wherever the music takes him.  Whether solo or with his band, you will hear the music of many decades performed in a way that's great for dancing or just relaxing with friends.
