Blue Thrill

BLUE THRILL was formed from the nucleus of the Blues Doctors, featuring lead guitarist, harpist and lead vocalist, Phil (Dr. Thrill) Gardner, lead guitarist and vocalist, John (Big John) Westcott and lead vocalist, Karin Hannah Stern. They have joined forces with bassist, Tom (T-bone) Savannah and drummer, Glen (Sooper Trooper) Reuschling, to form BLUE THRILL! The guys form the base group and Karin joins us at select events. We will continue to bring you the high quality blues, classic rock and R and B that you have been accustomed to, but with higher energy. We like to call it "Blues With A Thrill"! Let us put together a custom entertainment package for your party, reception, corporate event or restaurant/pub, with your choice of the 4 guys, Karin, a horn section, a keyboard soloist, the acoustic duo or trio, Blue Thrill Unplugged, a DJ, or any combination that you want!

Check out our latest addition, "BLUE THRILL UNPLUGGED"! Dr. Thrill and Big John break out the acoustic guitars and go out as a duo, or with Karin as the featured vocalist. We still play all of your Blue Thrill classic rock and blues favorites, plus a lot of acoustic favorites that you usually won't hear at an electric Blue Thrill show (though we've been known to throw them in as a bonus). Dr. Thrill can also perform as a single acoustic act he calls "THRILL ALONE".

Style: High energy blues, classic rock and R and B - Blues with a Thrill

Members: Phil (Dr. Thrill) Gardner fronts Blue Thrill and plays guitar, harp and brass and is the lead vocalist. Thrill also plays with several other area bands, including Them Eastport Oyster Boys, Mike Lange and Boogie Express, the Tiki Barbarians and the Groove Spot Band. The doctor has been playing in Wash DC area bands, such as The Brain Vandals, Off The Wall, Eclipse, Opus, Good Times, Main Street, the Blues Doctors and Big Daddy, since 1973. Thrill can also go out as a single acoustic act, or with Big John as Blue Thrill Unplugged.

John (Big John) Westcott is also on guitar and vocals. Big John has been a staple in the local blues jam scene for years performing at the old Surfside 7, the Blue Moon Saloon and the Roadhouse and was a founding member of the Blues Doctors with Thrill. John also joins Thrill to form the Blue Thrill Unplugged acoustic duo.

Karin Hannah Stern is the lead vocalist and keyboardist at selected events and obviosly adds some glamour to Blue Thrill. Karin has been in area bands for 25 years, including Main Street, the Blues Doctors (yep, another founding member) and the Bayside Big Band. Check out Karin on Wednesdays at Bamboo Bernie's with Bayside. Karin also joins Thrill and John to form the Blue Thrill Unplugged acoustic trio.

Glen (Sooper Trooper) Reuschling is the newest member of Blue Thrill and drummer extraordinaire! Glen has been a part of the local music scene for over 35 years, playing in a wide variety of different bands, from Broadway pit orchestras to hard rock bands. He did a 9 year stint with a national recording and touring gospel rock band, Bittersweet, out of LA, and recorded several cd's with them. Sooper Trooper is also a member of The Twilight Three Plus One swing combo. In addition to the drums, he plays trumpet, trombone and keyboards, but, hasn't figured out how to play them at the same time as the drums!

Tom (T-Bone) Savanah is the bassist and with Sooper Trooper, forms the rock steady rythym section of Blue Thrill. T-Bone, BT's mystery man, is back in the music scene after a 30 some year haitus. That's why that awesome 60's Fender bass looks brand new!

The Blue Thrill Horns can be added to select events to add that Motown, Stax and Big Band flavor to Blue Thrill.
