(pronounced nut‑a‑loose‑ah) is
a Baltimore / Washington DC band with an energizing and heart-warming mix of
traditional and inventive Cajun and Zydeco-style dance music. We get your dance
bones going with sweet melodies and raw beats for zydeco, two-step and waltz. The
band is based in Columbia, Maryland, with members hailing from Maryland and
Seven members that play a variety of instruments, including
Cajun accordion, triple row and piano accordions, fiddle, acoustic and electric
guitar, drums, standup and electric base, harmonica, ukulele, triangle, and
rubboard (frottoir). Our main influences are from the Louisiana countryside
music scene but draw from other intoxicating and soul-capturing music. The
band's name was inspired by the catchy Louisiana town name Bogalusa. With
knowledge that we were embracing nuttiness, it all began to fit – Nutalusa,
loose nut spelled backwards.
