Subject: Acoustic guitar/vocals looking for partner
Message# 46279
Name: Steve

I put out feelers last year about this time, but life was kinda in flux at the time, so I didn't commit to following up. Apologies to those I may not have replied to....

Singer/guitarist here who also blows a little harp, and is struggling thru trying to learn mandolin and squeezebox looking for a musical partner.

A little about me:

I've been playing guitar for most of my life. Recently "retired" from a very busy band, and naturally, the itch never goes away, so here I am, looking to punish myself some more! hehe!

Things are pretty stable now, so adding in a musical endeavor should be no problem. Never really had the imagination or desire to do originals, what with all the great music out there, but I am DEFINITELY tired of playing the same old classic rock tunes everyone else does. If you're into originals and have some great ideas, I'd LOVE to see if there's anything I can add. I have a zillion chord/fingerpicking patterns floating around in old Duder's head, but never really had the discipline to form them into a song. Perhaps YOU are the push I need to make that happen.

What I'm envisioning:

A duo that does weekend day/early evening/happy hour type gigs. A big part of why I retired was getting home at 3 AM. No longer interested in doing that, and early gigs leave time for other endeavors later in the evening if you wanna go see friend's bands play.

Musical content is negotiable, but for the most part, I want to do singer/songwriter stuff like Jason Isbell, Noah Gundersen, and some tasty older stuff like Faraway Eyes, etc...I understand that there will need to be a certain number of songs recognizable by the general public, but I'd like to make them more thoughtful choices, as opposed to the usual "Take It Easy/Brown Eyed Girl/Margaritaville"

fare.

What I offer:

Dedication, punctuality, preparedness, mastery of my instruments (both voice and guitar), a small PA/light rig we can use for this act. I'm alcohol and 4:20 friendly, as long as it doesn't interfere with your ability to deliver a good product.

What I expect:

All of the above except the equipment. If you play multiple instruments that would work in this scenario, that's even better. I would prefer you at least play SOME instrument and have SOME vocal ability. I have a harmonizer I can fake other voices with, so instrument more important than vocs.

Here are a few clips of me with my former band so you can have some idea of what you'd be getting yourself into:
